Agentic investing · by Capacitr
Agentic investing means a software agent that can carry out several steps on its own: read sources, form a view, find the market and prepare or place a trade. It is new, and the products vary a lot in how much freedom the agent gets. Here is the vocabulary and a map of who does what.
Free on iOS 16.4+, Android and the web. Not financial advice. Trading involves risk of loss.

Three levels of autonomy
The agent reads and explains. You place trades elsewhere. Example: Button’s research and scheduled briefs; your own AI assistant at tastytrade.
The agent prepares the trade and waits. You confirm each one. Examples: Capacitr, Button’s slide-to-confirm, Supertake’s default “Ask me first.”
The agent trades within permissions or limits you delegate. Examples: Catalyst’s delegated agents, Supertake’s optional Autopilot, Autopilot’s mirrored portfolios.

| App | How AI is used | Who places the trade | Custody | Regulation and limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Capacitr Our app | News-to-trade assistant: matches breaking posts and articles to the markets they move, writes a thesis with sources and can fill in a ticket. | Nothing is placed until you confirm each trade. | Self-custodial wallet. Capacitr does not hold funds. | Not an exchange. Venue limits apply: Hyperliquid is not available in the US or Canada, new Polymarket positions are not available in the US or UK, Robinhood Chain is EU/EEA only. |
| Supertake | Turns a plain-English investing thesis (a “take”) into a portfolio. Takes can be shared and forked. | “Ask me first” by default: you approve each trade instruction. Optional Autopilot mode trades within limits you set. | Funds stay at your connected broker (Robinhood and Coinbase are named). | Says it is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser or SIPC member. |
| Catalyst | Autonomous agents turn a plain-English strategy into a workflow that watches signals and trades. | Agents can sign trades under permissions you delegate. Per-trade approval is optional, per its terms. | Non-custodial wallets (via Privy). Withdrawals in stablecoins only for now. | States it is not registered with the SEC as an investment adviser or with the CFTC as a commodity trading advisor. |
| tastytrade | No built-in agent. An official MCP server lets an AI assistant you bring (such as Claude) read your account and send orders. | Orders sent through MCP show a preview and need confirmation; tastytrade notes the same AI can confirm, and some actions skip it. | Held at the broker. Crypto held by Zero Hash. | Registered broker-dealer; member of FINRA, NFA and SIPC. |
| Autopilot | Mainly copy-trading portfolios (“Pilots”) that track experts, 13F filings and politicians, plus AI portfolios. | Automatic: trades are mirrored into your brokerage. Filing-based copies lag the original trades. | Funds stay at your broker (Robinhood, Schwab and Public are named). | Advice from Autopilot Advisers, LLC, an SEC-registered investment adviser. |
| Button (Tailor) | AI research assistant that analyzes your portfolio and data, runs scheduled briefs and risk scans, and drafts trades. | Drafts trades; nothing is placed until you slide to confirm. | Not published. | Not published. |
About our app
Capacitr, our app, is a level-2 co-pilot by design: the agent does the reading and fills in the ticket, and you sign. Based on its App Store listing and support page.
Capacitr is not an exchange, does not hold your funds and is never the counterparty to your trades. You approve a trading key for your own wallet, and every fill links to the venue’s explorer.
The assistant can suggest a trade and fill in the ticket. Nothing is placed until you confirm, and Capacitr tells you what is sent to its AI providers before your first question.
FAQ
Agentic investing is using an AI agent that carries out multi-step research and can prepare or place trades toward a goal you set, rather than answering one question at a time.
It depends on the level of autonomy you want. For a co-pilot that confirms every trade, Capacitr (publisher of this guide) or Button. For delegated automation, Catalyst. For thesis-driven stock portfolios, Supertake.
The agent is only as safe as its limits. Check whether it can trade without you, what it can spend, who holds funds and whether you can revoke access instantly.
A robo-advisor rebalances a fixed model on a schedule. An agent reads new information and can act on it, which is faster and riskier.
Rules depend on what the app does and where. Some say they are not advisers or brokers; others work through registered brokers or advisers. Read each app’s terms.
